TIMELINE: The University of Maryland Art Gallery at 50 showcases a selection of highlights from the Gallery’s permanent collection. Masterpieces on view include works by Rembrandt van Rijn, Honoré Daumier, Lee Krasner, Hans Hofmann, Ryoko Suzuki, John Baldessari, and Andy Warhol, as well as art from Africa, Asia, and South America. The nearly 2,300 objects that make up the Gallery’s holdings are due in large part to the kindness of its supporters and donors over the past five decades. Additionally, numerous recent acquisitions given in honor of the Gallery’s golden anniversary will also be on view, including two major paintings by Washington Color School painter Paul Reed; early Korean Art from the Silla Kingdom, and Goryeo and Joseon Dynasties; and works by contemporary photographer Kristin Capp. This exhibition is organized by the University of Maryland Art Gallery and runs from February 3rd to March 11th.
